Join Kingston Economic Development and Queen’s Business Law Clinic to learn the core legal issues every new business navigates.

This workshop provides an accessible, practical overview of the essential legal considerations that arise when launching or operating a small business or startup. The presenting team from the Queen’s Business Law Clinic will provide a high-level overview of the early‑stage legal considerations for startups, such as understanding business structures and choosing the right one, as well the type of issues that most startups encounter and how the Queen’s Business Law Clinic can help. By the end of the session, participants will feel more prepared to know when to seek support from the Clinic’s free services.

Topics Include:

  • Early-stage legal considerations for startups, including choosing the right business structure.
  • How to become a client of the Queen’s Business Law Clinic and what services are available at no cost.

About the Queen’s Business Law Clinic:

The Queen’s Business Law Clinic (QBLC) provides a range of free legal services to qualified clients. The QBLC operates year-round to provide free legal services to a wide variety of individuals, businesses and non-for-profit organizations in southeastern Ontario who would otherwise have difficulty affording legal counsel. Student caseworkers complete their work under the supervision of the Director and volunteer review counsel. The QBLC is proud to have contributed to the economic growth and social well-being of Kingston and surrounding communities by helping entrepreneurs, small businesses, charities and not-for-profit organizations with their legal issues.
