Canadian Wollastonite and UNDO Launch One of the World’s Largest Atmospheric Carbon Removal Initiatives

Canadian Wollastonite and UNDO Launch One of the World’s Largest Atmospheric Carbon Removal Initiatives

Kingston, ON September 9, 2025 – Canadian Wollastonite today announced a landmark three year agreement to supply UNDO Carbon with 450,000 tonnes of wollastonite for what is currently the second largest geo-engineered atmospheric CO2 removal project in the world, positioning The City of Kingston at the forefront of global climate innovation.

UNDO’s enhanced rock weathering solution accelerates the natural process of rock weathering, which draws downatmospheric CO₂ to generate permanent, high-quality carbon removal with added co-benefits for farmers. The IPCC 2022 Mitigation of Climate Change report suggests that ERW, if scaled, could remove up to 4 billion tonnes of CO₂ per year – equivalent to 40% of CO₂ removal targets.

With access to 18-million-tonnes of wollastonite, this Kingston area resource has the potential to permanently removemillions of tonnes of CO₂ while boosting farm productivity and rural economic growth across Eastern Ontario.

Wollastonite, a mineral-rich silicate rock, is supplied to local farmers free of charge. For farming communities inOntario, fast-weathering wollastonite brings agronomic advantages such as improved crop health, soil pH, and natural pest and disease resistance.

To date, 162 farms and 8,500 hectares of Canadian farmland have benefited from subsidized wollastonite application. With this new deal, the project is set to expand to serve 2,000 farms across the region.

In addition, the City of Kingston became the first municipality to subsidize haulage costs for farmers, further enabling local participation through the Kingston Rebate.

“This agreement represents far more than a supply contract – it’s a catalyst for rural economic development and long-term regional resilience,” said Bob Vasily, President of Canadian Wollastonite.

With customers such as British Airways, Microsoft and McLaren Racing, UNDO is establishing a range of commercialpartnerships that will enable the supply and spreading of millions of tonnes of silicate rock each year, a first step towards billion-tonne scale operations

“Partnering with UNDO marks a transformative moment for our mine and for climate innovation,” said Vasily. “Byelectrifying our operations and deploying solar, we’re on track to become North America’s first carbon-neutral mine by 2028, demonstrating that climate- positive mining isn’t just possible, it’s happening.”

In April 2025, UNDO was named one of four global winners of the $100 million XPRIZE Carbon Removal competition for its operations in Eastern Ontario.

About Canadian Wollastonite
Canadian Wollastonite, located in Seeley’s Bay, Ontario, is proud to be the first industrial minerals mine approved in Southern Ontario in over three decades—and remains the only wollastonite mining operation in Canada. As one of just a few such producers globally, Canadian Wollastonite is at the forefront of sustainable mineral development, setting a new benchmark for environmentally responsible mining as recognized by the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines.

Environmental stewardship is woven into every aspect of our operations. We’ve partnered with more than a dozen universities to explore innovative applications of wollastonite, including its potential to enhance soil health andsequester carbon—contributing to climate resilience and regenerative agriculture.

On our 220-hectare property, less than 15% will be impacted by mining activities. The remaining land is actively beingrestored and enhanced to support biodiversity. To date, over 15,000 native trees have been planted, and several large wetlands have been constructed, leading to a thriving resurgence of local wildlife—including purple martins, ducks, and bats.

At Canadian Wollastonite, we believe that responsible resource development can—and must—coexist with ecologicalrenewal. Our commitment is not just to extract value from the earth, but to give back to it.

About UNDO
UNDO is a pioneering nature-based carbon dioxide removal company with an ambition to remove over one billiontonnes of atmospheric CO₂ in accessible, affordable, nature-friendly ways. Since 2022, UNDO has worked at thecutting edge of science alongside experts in the climate, carbon and agricultural sectors to develop an enhanced rockweathering technology which accelerates natural weathering processes to remove carbon from the atmosphere while bringing soil and crop benefits to agricultural communities. The UNDO operational, scientific and technical model leverages existing infrastructure, with a carbon efficiency of greater than 90 percent, allowing UNDO to quickly scale operations whilst offering carbon removal at competitive prices.
