Third Annual Kingston Young Professionals 40 Under 40 Awards Accepting Nominations

Celebrating the exceptional young professionals driving Kingston’s success

Kingston, Ontario – June 18, 2025 – Kingston Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce that nominations are now open for the third annual Kingston Young Professionals 40 Under 40 Awards. Nominations are open until August 8, 2025, providing community members the opportunity to honour outstanding individuals under the age of 40 who are making significant contributions to their industries and the Kingston community.

“One of Kingston’s key assets is in our outstanding young professional talent,” said Donna Gillespie, CEO of Kingston Economic Development Corporation. “The 40 Under 40 Awards showcase the remarkable depth of young leadership in our community, from entrepreneurs to healthcare professionals, creatives and community builders. By recognizing these exceptional individuals, we highlight to the world that Kingston is home to innovative and forward-thinking professionals.”

The Kingston Young Professionals 40 Under 40 Awards celebrate individuals who have demonstrated exceptional professional achievements, community involvement, and leadership in their fields. Since its launch in 2023, this third annual edition will continue to highlight the diverse talents and impactful work of young professionals who are shaping Kingston’s future and contributing to the city’s reputation as a destination for top talent.

“Being recognized provided some valuable networking for our project,” said Rachel Doornekamp, Founder of The Inclusive Play Project, and 2024 Award recipient. “Since last year’s awards ceremony, we have successfully raised over one million dollars towards Kingston’s first fully inclusive playground.”

The nomination process is open to the public, allowing community members to nominate deserving individuals. An external adjudication committee comprised of previous 40 Under 40 recipients will evaluate nominations and select this year’s recipients based on the award’s criteria.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Nominees must be under the age of 40 as of December 31, 2025
  • Nominees must reside or work in Kingston or the surrounding area
  • Nominees should demonstrate exceptional professional achievements, community involvement, and leadership qualities
